Licensed Psychologist, Yoga Teacher, & Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Facilitator
I’m a Licensed Psychologist in private practice who specializes in helping individuals reconnect with themselves and grow in authentic ways. Since I started providing therapy in 2013, my goal has been to create a therapeutic relationship with individuals that is both safe and non-judgmental as I get to know you and your world. As your therapist, I will work to understand important aspects of your identity and personality, recognize your experiences within your sociocultural context, and distinguish how patterns and symptoms shape your personal and social lives. It’s my hope that through our relationship, you can begin to listen to and trust your own intuition and cultivate safety in joining with your authentic self. From that genuine and unique place, we will work together to identify how you can regain control and restore empowerment in your life.
In 2008, I found yoga and instantly fell in love with the practice. I tried several styles of yoga and felt most connected to hatha yoga, which can be translated to “sun” (ha) and “moon” (tha). As its name illustrates, I found balance in this practice. It grounded me physically and emotionally and gave me a space to be creative, deepening my awareness of myself. In 2009, I graduated from the Nirvana School of Classical Yoga in Atlanta, GA with my 200-hour certification. I’ve also completed the 300-hour certificate program in facilitating Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), an empirically-based treatment for complex trauma. Currently, I incorporate TCTSY into my psychotherapy practice with clients when there is both interest and clinical appropriateness.
In addition to TCTSY, I use body-based interventions and a somatic lens to explore how your body feels g and is impacted by what we’re exploring or processing. Your body is with you all of the time, so it is experiencing things even when we’re in a more intellectual place. Through this body-based lens and my TCTSY practice, my aim is that you cultivate safety by listening to your body, giving it a seat at the table with your thoughts and feelings. When all feel equally heard, I find that this creates the knowledge that you are hearing your intuition and what you really want, rather than hearing what your conditioning is saying or what society says you should want.
